Brakes aren't a place to guess. When a car comes in for brake work at the Plat I Rd shop, Mark looks at the whole system — not just the part that's making noise — because a worn pad, a scored rotor and a leaking wheel cylinder all show up as the same customer complaint: "my brakes don't feel right."
Common signs it's time: squealing or grinding on the pedal, a shudder in the wheel when you slow down, the truck pulling to one side under braking, or a brake warning light that won't clear. Any of those is worth a quick word with the assistant — it takes a minute and you'll know where you stand.
Almost always, for brakes — it's core work for the shop and welcome on cars, trucks and SUVs alike. The only vehicles Mark turns away outright are BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Jaguar (the electrical headaches aren't worth it — though a Mini is welcome), plus motorhomes, RVs and boats. If you're driving anything else, your brake job is almost certainly a fit.
Sooner is cheaper. A squeal is usually the pad's wear indicator telling you it's near the end; keep driving and it becomes a grind, which means the rotor is getting chewed up too. Catching it at the squeal stage typically keeps the job to pads instead of pads plus rotors.
Yes — brake work is welcome on trucks, SUVs and cars alike. (Truck front-end work and truck clutches are the two truck jobs Mark doesn't take on — brakes aren't on that list.)

Absolutely. Folks drive in from Oakland, Wilbur, Winchester and Roseburg all the time. Mark works out of the one shop, so customers come to him — a fair drive just means factoring in the trip.
